Built along the very steep flanks, Briey has built around its castle a vast complex of fortifications. Completely demolished in 1660 by French troops, these fortifications were replaced by terraces occupied by ornamental gardens during the 19th century. Part of these terraces have recently been restored to allow a stroll in an exceptional setting. Opposite, following its recent rehabilitation, the sector of the lake of La Sangsue à Briey offers a pleasant walkway, a picnic area and a playground. This itinerary can be used freely or as part of a guided tour of the old town.
