The first Hôtel de l'Intendance was built in the 18th century as part of a major urban development project and under the leadership of the Marshal of Belle-Isle, who gave Metz its classical style. Seat of the Prefecture since 1806, the building on the left was partially rebuilt on the same model after a fire.
