Located in the Primatiale district (now the Cathedral), this brick and stone residence was built in 1619 for Pierre de Stainville, the great Dean of the Primatiale. Above the entrance porch stands a bust of Duke Henri II, a copy of Bussière, the original of which is in the Musée Lorrain It is one of the oldest hotels in the use of red brick and black brick lozenges and gives it all its appeal. The alternation of bricks and stones was not very common in Lorraine, the dukes used this motif during the construction of Renaissance fortifications, some evidence of which still remains at Porte Saint-Georges and Porte Notre-Dame. Inside, the superb straight staircase, composed of several flights and several landings, is the masterpiece of this building.
