CHALET DE L'EMPEREUR

France > Grand Est > Vosges > 88340 > Le Val-d'Ajol > Le Breuil

The building owes its name to Napoleon III, who made frequent visits to Plombières-les-Bains and never hesitated to travel the 10km between Plombières and Le Breuil to meet up for country parties in the Forêt d?Hérival. At the time, a wooden chalet served as a rallying point and shelter. Destroyed by fire, it was replaced by a wooden hut covered in bark. Today, the École Nationale Supérieure des Technologies et Industries du Bois d?Epinal has designed and built a building that combines modernism and tradition in its use of wood. The stone table inside is the original sandstone slab with rounded corners resting on 4 square pillars. Access north of Girmont-Val-d?Ajol, at Le Breuil, at the intersection of Route forestière du Villerain and Route forestière des Tanchottes
