TÊTE DES CUVEAUX

Promontory located at 783m and overlooking the Moselle valley where the view is magnificent. A 9m high belvedere, with an orientation table, has been installed on the highest point. Cavities dug into the sandstone and measuring about 70 cm in diameter have earned this plateau the name "Tête des Cuveaux" and are said to bear witness to the presence of ancient glaciers: water from streams flowing on the surface of these glaciers would have produced these erosions. These cup-shaped rocks give off a powerful natural magnetism suggesting that this place has been known for millennia by other civilizations. Access: hiking with the topo-guide Club Vosgien.
