France > Grand Est > Meurthe-et-Moselle > 54120 > Deneuvre > 1 Place Jean-Marie Keyser

The museum "Les sources d'Hercule" presents the richness of the archaeological site of Deneuvre discovered in 1974 At the sanctuary of Hercules, pilgrims came to bathe in the purifying water gushing from the natural springs and made a wish. If the wish was fulfilled, the pilgrim would offer an ex-voto The sanctuary has been faithfully reconstructed inside the museum, thanks to the indications of the archaeologists who excavated the site for 12 years. Thus, you will discover 70 statues dedicated to Hercules, 3 basins and small objects (from the 2nd to the 4th century AD). The importance of this collection makes the site of Deneuvre the most important sanctuary of this god ever discovered in Gaul.
