Inaugurated on June 20, 2017, the monument is in the effigy of the 1st infantry regiment. It was created on the occasion of the 50 years of presence of "Picardie" in its garrison of Sarrebourg. Placed in the rue de Lunéville, it was made by the artist-sculptor Eric Alvarez. It is represented by the regimental badge surrounded by key motifs, such as a military vehicle or armed soldiers. The aim of this sculpture is to make the Saarbrücken institution shine in the city while continuing to create a link between the army and the nation.
