Of pre-industrial architecture, the oldest visible headframe in the region was erected from 1849 to 1852. It was supposed to be used for coal mining, but due to heavy water eruptions, this could never be achieved. However, the water from the well supplied the machines of the Wendel ironworks and later the community with drinking water.
