NÉCROPOLE NATIONALE DE VERGAVILLE

The National Necropolis of Vergaville contains the bodies of 1161 soldiers (335 of whom are unknown) who were victims of the fighting of 19 and 20 August 1914, and who belonged mainly to the regiments of the Midi. In the heart of the National Necropolis of Vergaville, the monument to the memory of the "French soldiers of the 15th Corps" presents its magnificent sculpture: a woman, a Lorraine, holding in her arms a young French infantryman wounded to death, surmounted by a wrought arch.
