CHAPELLE SAINT-JOSEPH

France > Grand Est > Moselle > 57830 > Foulcrey > Lieu-dit Le Calvaire

The chapel dedicated to St. Joseph is in the shape of a Greek cross. It was erected at the place called "Le Calvaire". The first stone was laid on August 16, 1858. It was the parish priest of Réchicourt who presided over the inauguration on 27 May 1866. In 1879, Father Poirine donated the chapel and the oratory to the parish. This chapel surprises the visitor with its imposing facade ending with stepped edges up to the pinnacle supporting the statue of St. Joseph. A pilgrimage takes place every year on St. Joseph's Day, but the breath of yesteryear is fading away.
