The Virgin of the Thillot, also called Our Lady of the Liberation, is a statue erected by the parish to commemorate the liberation of the village on November 26, 1944. Le Thillot paid a heavy price during the Second World War: 50% of the town was destroyed during the bombings of June 1940 and September 1944. The virgin, who was blessed on 4 April 1948, is situated on a small peak (altitude: 585 metres) from where there is a magnificent panorama over the valley. Access to the site is on foot from a path served by the rue du Tacot: follow the yellow triangle markings in the direction of the Etang de la Peau and then the sign indicating "point de vue de la vierge" (Virgin's viewpoint).
