LE SENTIER PÉDAGOGIQUE DU LAC DE LISPACH ET DE LA TÉNINE À LA BRESSE

France > Grand Est > Vosges > 88250 > La Bresse > Lac de Lispach

The educational trail of the Lispach Lake to discover the world of peat bogs (duration of the walk: 1h30 - very easy). The ecological interest of the Ténine and Lispach peat bogs has led to their being listed as Sensitive Natural Areas by the Vosges Department since 1995. The Chajoux stream collects the waters of a small mountain glacial valley close to the Great Ridge of the Vosges massif, which brings together, in a small area, an exceptional natural and landscape heritage. This valley carved out of granite and gneiss is marked by a strong glacial imprint. In the depressions and on the slopes, peat bogs of all kinds have settled: lacustrine bogs, slope bogs, or even high bogs surrounded by natural spruce forests. There are two major peat sites separated by one kilometre: the Lispach peat bog and lake on the one hand, and the Ténine peat bog on the other. The Lispach Lake is a semi-natural body of water. It occupies, at 912 meters of altitude, a hollow shaped by the glaciers and provided with an artificial dam. Almost half of the lake's surface is occupied by a peat raft, or floating peat bog, which gives the place its charm and illustrates an important phase in the evolution of a peat bog, gradually occupying the water surface. The Ténine peat bog is located below, on the right bank of the Chajoux stream. This high peat bog is probably the one that has preserved the greatest thickness of peat in the Vosges massif and in the whole of the East. Bordered, on the south, by the artificial water body of the Ténine, it is surrounded by a belt of spruce forest on peat. Marking: yellow ring
