The Lening Marsh is the largest group of limestone peat meadows in the Moselle. There are several rare or protected species such as the red-backed shrike, the Mercury shrike or the marsh copper and the narrow vertigo (a snail). There are also 3 regionally protected plants: the marisque, the broad-leaved cottongrass and the snake tongue.
