It was on September 1, 1829 that a plan for a new chapel was drawn up. The old one was dilapidated and too small for 270 inhabitants On January 17, 1855, the chapel became a "branch" with a resident vicar. Metzing having become a parish in its own right, the municipality wanted to transform its chapel into a church.
