In the Hessian State Forest, between the towns of Brouderdorff and Hartzviller, there is a masonry niche with a statue of the Virgin Mary. This statue was erected 50 years ago by Victor Pfeiffer, who had the idea of creating a chapel in the Eckwald. In 1965, it was transformed by a few inhabitants of Brouderdorff and during the storm of December 1999, many trees fell near the niche housing the Virgin Mary, leaving it miraculously intact.
