BORNE SAINT-MARTIN

France > Grand Est > Moselle > 57850 > Dabo > Lat. 48,6723 Long. 7,2557

Located between the Hoube and Hellert, the Saint Martin or Martinstein boundary marker is one of the many boundary markers that separated the county of Dabo from that of the Abbey of Marmoutier. Several of these markers remain in our forests on the ridge line that separates these two former territories. It has the following symbols: 3 alerions for the county of Dabo and the letter "M" on a bishop's crook for the Abbey of Marmoutier. This raised stone could be of Celtic origin and would testify to a place of druidic worship. The site is particularly rich in vibratory waves. (Source: Tales and legends of our country between Dabo, Phalsbourg and Sarrebourg) How to get there: from the D98D between La Hoube and Hellert, turn towards Maison Forestière du Kempel and park. Follow the yellow rectangle path towards Martinstein. See also the hiking trail of the Borne Saint-Martin (9,6 km ? yellow ring) starting from La Hoube or from the former camping site of Dabo.
