Assemblée Nationale - Palais Bourbon

France > Île-de-France > Paris > 75007 > Paris > 126 rue de l'Université

The Palais Bourbon was built between 1722 and 1728 for Louise Françoise de Bourbon, Duchess of Orleans and adulterous daughter of Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan. It is the work of four successive architects: Giardini, Lassurance, Jean Aubert and Jacques Gabriel. After the death of the duchess, the Palais Bourbon is subject to extensive expansion and is confiscated during the French Revolution. It became national property and briefly housed a prison, a polytechnic school and the Chamber of Deputies during the Restoration and the Second Empire before becoming the seat of the National Assembly in 1879.
