Under the Vichy government, the Bobigny train station became one of the main deportation points for French Jews to Nazi Germany. Between the summer of 1943 and 1944, 22,407 men, women and children - a third of the Jewish deportees from France - left the Drancy camp for the Bobigny station to be taken to the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. Listed as a historical monument since 2005, the former deportation station at Bobigny covers 3.5 hectares and has been extensively renovated to make it accessible to the general public and thus perpetuate the memory of the victims.
