Domaine départemental de Sceaux

When Colbert bought the estate in 1670, he undertook numerous works that he entrusted to the greatest artists of the time: Charles Le Brun for the painted decorations, Antoine Coysevox and François Girardon for the sculptures and André Le Nôtre for the garden. Today, the departmental domain of Sceaux is a magnificent French-style park and a museum, whose collections are displayed in four prestigious places: the castle (19th century) focuses on the history of the domain; the Orangery (late 17th century) houses the sculptures of the gardens from Colbert's time, the Pavillon de l'Aurore unveils its famous dome painted by Le Brun, and Colbert's Stables host a restaurant and a store.
