La Méditerranée à vélo : Tarascon > Cavaillon

Sentinel of the Rhône banks, the Tarascon fortress is the gateway to the Mediterranean by bike itinerary in the Alpilles. St-Rémy-de-Provence is a must-see stop to soak up the aromas of this massif, its particular light due to its composition of white limestone rocks, and to understand the work of painter Vincent Van-Gogh. The greenway between St-Etienne-du-Grès and St-Rémy-de-Provence is a beautiful example of successful development, combining a nod to its railway past and recreational areas for local residents and cyclists. The end of the route follows pleasant small agricultural roads with beautiful views of the Alpilles mountains. A bicycle path crosses the Durance river for a zen arrival in Cavaillon. This section is currently being completed. For now, a provisional staking was put in place, in 2018, to ensure continuity on the entire route, which is without a difference in level." The route has several sections in exclusive right-of-way, with smooth and well rolling asphalt, for a total of about 10 km. Rural roads parallel to the D970 and D99B. Be careful when crossing the D570N and when crossing the D99 (avenue de Tarascon) at the entrance to St-Etienne du Grès. We find the green way on the D99 after the village, be careful when turning left. Caution for the entrance to St-Rémy de Provence, cycle lanes on the very busy D99. New sections of greenways will be created for the 2021 season.
