Like a pile of boulders, Érosionnous makes us feel the energies that run through the natural world, a world in perpetual motion. Thus, Érosionnous speaks to us of the long time of nature and invites us to put this long time in perspective with our ephemeral individual existences, to adopt a more humble presence in the world. Presentation of the artist and his approach: Jonathan Bernard lives and works in Morbihan. He studied ancient history in Angers. Afterwards, the decisive encounter with a sculptor allowed him to learn direct carving, to understand volume and work on lines. The sculptor's approach is based on a particular interest in the material (mainly wood) and the work of this material, which allows him to approach the complex relationship of man to nature, to himself and to the passage of time. Jonathan Bernard's work evolves through his travels and encounters. Description : EROSION (Lebanon cedar wood) This piece of wood, which has been polished, eroded, weathered and cracked, takes on a mineral appearance. Just like a piling of stone blocks, Erosion makes us feel the energies all around a permanent changing world and tells us therefore about the long time of nature; we are invited to put it into perspective with our own short lives, and to adopt a more humble presence within the world. Presentation of the artist and his/her approach : Jonathan Bernard lives and works in the Morbihan department. He studied Antiquity in Angers. Afterward he did the crucial encounter of a sculptor, thanks to whom he learned direct stone cutting and could understand volume and lines better. He shows particular interest for matter (wood mainly) and how to work it; thus, he can come up to the complex relationship of man toward nature, himself and the passing of time.
