SUR LES PAS DES ROMAINS

France > Grand Est > Moselle > 57935 > Luttange

This circuit combines nature and history In the East, the itinerary circulates on several kilometers in the forest offering a pleasant walk in the shade of the trees North of Luttange, the traces of history are numerous. In an open landscape, you will walk on two historical routes. One was used in the Middle Ages by the monks, the other is an old secondary Roman road. The latter connected two major axes of the Roman road network that once spanned the entire region. You will also pass near Terlange, a disappeared village mentioned in writings in 968 If it cannot be visited, the castle of Luttange is worth a visit. Located at a strategic point, it dominated the valley of the Moselle. The keep, the north-west, south-west and south-east towers date from the 14th century; the castle belonged then to the Luttange family. In the 15th century, its new owners, the family of Perpignant, added an oval tower in front of the keep. Follow the yellow line.
