April 05 at 6:00 pm - "Ya no estoy aquí" by Fernando Frías De La Parra (2019, 1:52) The film follows the journey of Ulises Samperio, a 17-year-old Mexican who, after a misunderstanding with members of a local cartel, is forced to emigrate to the USA, abandoning what defines him best: his gang, the dancing and partying he loves so much. He does his best to adapt to a new country, but realizes that he would rather return home to his family and friends in Monterrey than face the loneliness of the USA. ? June 07 at 5:30pm - "Bardo, falsa crónica de unas cuantas verdades" by Alejandro González Iñárritu (2022, 2:30pm) When Silverio, a renowned Mexican journalist and documentary filmmaker living in Los Angeles, is due to receive a prestigious international award, he returns to his native country, unaware that this simple trip will confront him with a terrible existential crisis. His memories and anxieties resurface, obsessing him and plunging him into a state of confusion and wonder. With emotion and humor, Silverio confronts both universal and intimate questions about identity, success, mortality, Mexican history and the deep ties that bind him to his wife and children.
