The magnificent church of Saint-Privat-du-Fau sits majestically on the side of the mountain, facing the Malzieu valley, the Aubrac and the Cantal massif in the distance. Its combed bell tower is certainly the most remarkable of the Gévaudan's walled bell towers with its three floors of bays where the bells are nestled, one of which dates back to 1658 .

The church was probably built in the 12th century by the monks of the abbey of Pébrac, near Langeac now in the Haute-Loire. The facade of the church dates from the 19th century as indicated by the cartouche above the entrance porch where "1888" is engraved. The front door is modern. The porch itself is gothic. A bull's-eye above the doorway allows for the lighting of the gallery inside. Inside, the church is composed of a single nave with a semicircular vault on double arches. The nave distributes four small chapels illuminated by a single arched window.
