RESERVE NATURELLE REGIONALE DE LA MOSELLE SAUVAGE

France > Grand Est > Meurthe-et-Moselle > 54290 > Bainville-aux-Miroirs

The site is located on the communes of Bainville aux Miroirs, Bayon and Socourt, Virecourt, Gripport, Mangonville and Chamagne (88). It is the last stretch of the wild Moselle. The site has been classified as a Regional Nature Reserve. It is managed by the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels de Lorraine. Natural heritage: The biological richness of the site is exceptional for the department and for the region, with the presence of more than 130 species of regional interest, even national. The natural habitats are also remarkable, with the largest surface area of alluvial forests on the banks of rivers in Lorraine. The rich and diversified plant successions reinforce the interest of the valley by allowing the expression of a biodiversity adapted to the river dynamics. To mention only a few of the 30 species of heritage birds, the Bank Swallow and the Little Gravelot are dependent on the banks of the Moselle and its direct surroundings. The European beaver finds very favorable habitats there. In terms of flora, among the 32 remarkable taxa inventoried, most are associated with meadows (Succise meadows) or open acidic grasslands (Corrigiola des grèves, an annual species that is very well represented on the gravel banks). Trail closed in the fall and reopened in the spring (accessible at any time of day). For more information: https://www.cen-lorraine.fr
