The texts dedicated to the Virgin, translating both the suffering of the mother and the perfection of the Saint, lend themselves to the exploration of the expressive resources of the voice and thus give rise to the production of passionate works. The original composition of two sopranos, accompanied by a basso continuo and one or two dessus, sublimates the daring harmonies and dissonances of the works of Monteverdi and Charpentier brought together in this program, in a high register, favourable to spiritual elevation. Through these light and refined sonorities, one discovers the splendor of the French and Italian sacred repertoires of the 17th century, magnified by the enlightened and bewitching interpretation offered by Christophe Rousset and his Talens Lyrique.
