Located in the south of the Hérault valley, the village of Bélarga is integrated into a landscape of great diversity. Its development and history were closely linked to the proximity of the river and its two tributaries: the Rouviège and the Dardaillon. In the Occitan language, the name of Bélarga has its origin in "Bel esgar", which means "beautiful sight". It is the only town in the valley that was built on the banks of the river. From Ganges to Agde, no other village has developed along this line. The proximity of the river has largely contributed to the influence of the village throughout history. As a crossing point of the Hérault, the village was also famous for its river port and its traditional fishing, as well as for its feudal mill which became a power plant. Difficulties : itinerary impracticable after heavy rains, caution when crossing roads, follow the signs in the marked sectors.
