Gas Surf Center

In 1997, some surfing fans from La Ciotat decided to found a surf club in La Ciotat. This is how the Gavade Amicale des Surfistes was born: the GAS. Nicolas Hervo, Eric Bonnery and Fred Pele set about opening a surf club without knowing what it would become. From small events to competitions, surfing will take an educational direction. In 2004, under the impulse of Nicolas Hervo and his team of instructors, the surf club gave its first lessons. This is how the young people of La Ciotat enjoy the joys of surfing on the Mediterranean beaches. The beginnings are promising but there are few students, surfing remaining marginal in the region. 6 students joined the first year and 12 the following year. 2007 is the year when the GAS is recognized for its training of young people in the high level. From 2007 to 2014, the club won regional titles and participated in every French championship. It also became a training club in the high level sector by placing athletes in the "Pôle France" and "Pôle Espoirs". Since 2014, the GAS has chosen to focus on other missions such as educational values in sport, women's sport, sport for young children and the creation of a sports section and a leisure section. With 20 years of experience, the GAS has become a reference in the teaching of surfing in the Mediterranean.
