La combe du Grandvaux

The landscape and the soul of Grandvaux are revealed along this emblematic route: forested valleys, meadows and pastures and the church on the lake shore. Parking : Behind the tourist office, Place Simone Veil in Saint-Laurent en Grandvaux. From ST-LAURENT CENTER, go up the village (blue MTB sign n° 98) until the traffic circle to find ST-LAURENT-LE-CRET (parking). Enter the pasture and turn right immediately to reach the crossroads Le Camping. Continue on the grassy path on the left, then on a white path towards Les Maisonnettes. Turn right and reach the railroad tracks by passing under a railway tunnel. Continue through the pastures to reach Aux Pierres then En Fouradon. Turn right on the white road and, from Les Essards, go up the road to the right to reach Les Jeannez. Take the white path that bends to the left. Go up in the forest to the Fusil Simple. Cross two clearings by grassy and earthy paths to arrive at Plan de Lajoux. By a forest path, join the Terrailla, turn right on a small tarred road and lead to the road D 437 that you follow on the left to reach the ABBAYE EN GRANDVAUX. Continue on the road D 437 and at the exit of the hamlet, take the asphalt road towards the lake. Go around the lake of the Abbey by the south and cross the hamlet until you reach the place called LES BEZ. Turn left on a small paved road through pastures to Joux Derrière. Take the grassy path on the right and reach En Demourey. Turn left and follow the white road, then the path on the right that leads to LES BOUVETS D'AMONT. After 600 m on the road D 330 on the right which goes down in a hairpin, do not miss the white path which goes up on the left in the pastures, to arrive at the Croix de Pierre. Follow this path to Les Grands Champs, then turn right onto a grassy path. At the white path, turn right and reach Les Gayolles. Continue on the path and turn left on a steep grassy path to cross the hamlet and then carefully cross the D 437. Reach the crossroads LES PONCETS. Follow the path to the left to reach Salave de Vent. Turn almost immediately to the right when you reach St-Laurent-en-Grandvaux and follow the road to reach the Chemin de l'Oeuf. Join your starting point in the center of the village by ST LAURENT - GARE. Recommendations : Be careful when crossing the roads at Abbaye-en-Grandvaux, Les Bez and Les Poncets. For a mountain bike outing, wear a helmet and bring enough water. The paths are shared with pedestrians and horseback riders, who have priority, so it is advisable to adapt and control your speed. You will have to cross many mountain bike passages, so do not hesitate to get off the bike. This route crosses pastures and forest roads. Also for the respect of the owners, for the peace of the cattle and the wild fauna, you are invited to remain on the marked out paths. Wild flowers are beautiful, they can be rare and protected and often wither quickly. Do not pick them! They will delight the next admirers. In the event of forestry work (felling, skidding, etc.), for your own safety, know when to give up and turn back.
