Gilles Déka has held a wide range of positions in the French education system: primary school teacher, teacher, principal education advisor, headteacher, inspector. Awarded the Youth and Sports Medal, he is now a trainer in the popular education sector. The richness of his background enables him to paint a scathing portrait of the invisible world of school, an institution that masks its immobility, perhaps in spite of itself.
