Works by Vivaldi, Taglietti, Barrière, Boismortier... Julien Gracq, Du Bellay, Stendhal, Pascal Quignard and many other contemporary authors visited the capital and the Italian regions to breathe in the "spirit of the place" and find sources of inspiration: "In Rome, everything is alluvium, everything is allusion," wrote Gracq. For his part, French cellist Jean Barrière (1707-1747) studied in Italy, encouraging the emancipation of the cello as a solo instrument in emotional resonance with the palette of feelings. By placing literary texts and musical works in dialogue, we bring together stories and ?inner impressions? to create evocative images that span centuries, landscapes and people.
