CHATEAU DE MONTJEZIEU

The <strong> castle of Montjézieu</strong> is located on the former commune of Montjézieu, attached to La Canourgue in Lozère. The village and its castle dominates the Lot Valley. "Remains of the old castle (gate and adjacent walls) remain. The cause of its destruction is unknown. It was destroyed before the construction of the seigneurial residence, built outside the enclosure. The new building was moreover provided with a parapet walk, part of which provided both observation and shooting. The castle is composed of several parts: a barlong tower with a parapet walk, two adjacent buildings to the east of the tower and, to the north, ruined walls to which buildings are attached. The tower still has chimneys. The stair turret, located in the south-west corner of the small courtyard, rises one storey above the tower and two storeys above the buildings. The upper part of the turret has been converted into a dovecote".
