In the heart of the Margeride, Chaulhac is a village with several peculiarities and curiosities that make it unique in the canton. Among them is the village's banal bread oven. Dated 1833, it is one of the only ones to be double. Indeed, inside, a single bakery serves two heating rooms. Built in granite and covered with shale lauzes, this small building is remarkable. In addition, not far away, there is a decorated cast iron fountain, which is also unique in the canton The village is made up of a wide range of farms from all periods and all types of invoices. Chaulhac is the only village to have coated houses dating from the dawn of the 20th century. The windows all have frames and polychrome decorations as well as a cornice decorated with various geometric motifs. Some of the buildings in the village have notable features, such as this pretty house dating from 1800 with a lintel decorated with blacksmith's tools.
