The chapel of the Madeleine is built on a terrace overlooking the valley of the Borne. An oral tradition situates above the building the site of the old Planchamp castle, although no archaeological evidence confirms this.
The chapel of the Madeleine is built on a terrace overlooking the valley of the Borne. An oral tradition situates above the building the site of the old castle of Planchamp, although no archaeological evidence allows to confirm these statements. It is a small building typical of the 12th century, built in a beautiful granite apparatus, and comprising a single nave of two bays ended by a semicircular apse vaulted in cul-de-four. The small bell tower with an arcade seems modern. Inside, the chapel houses the heart of Odilon Barrot, as indicated by a commemorative plaque on the wall of the apse.
