Discover the Gorges du Tarn along a 17-kilometre route between Saint-Chély-du-Tarn and the Cirque des Baumes. The Cirque des Baumes takes its name from the baumes (from the Occitan baumas meaning caves) carved out by wind and erosion. The Cirque des Baumes is an ideal spot for a discovery hike in the heart of the Gorges du Tarn. Situated below the Point Sublime, a 360-degree panorama of the most exceptional scenery, the cirque des Baumes allows you to discover cliffs where hundreds of birds nest, and an exceptional heritage with chapels, ruiniform rocks and "baumes", or caves. The cirque des baumes runs along the corniche of the Tarn, where outdoor activities are particularly popular, especially climbing. In spring, you can see the famous wild orchids, including the famous sabots de Vénus, very rare in France. What to bring : Sun cream, cap, drink, towel, swimsuit and water shoes.
