The hamlet of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn is located at the foot of a vast cliff on the left bank of the Tarn river about in the middle of the Gorges. Hamlet famous for its Romanesque church of the Assumption, built in the 12th century, and the Cénaret chapel, a 12th century Romanesque building built at the entrance to a cave with an underground lake and the remains of an old mill now converted into a craft shop. The hamlet is connected to the road axis by a bridge overhung by a single arch which crosses the watercourse at the level of the high cliff causing the meander of the Tarn. At the foot of this fabulous bridge, a small pebble beach is set up to refresh oneself in the river or to make a stop during a descent of the gorges in canoe - kayak. A resurgence which flows into the Tarn in a cascade is also very appreciated by swimmers and canoeists. There is something fairylike in the hamlet of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn.
