NOCTURNE À LA CAP LAMP

The traditional, unprecedented, intimate, night-time visit to the cap lamp returns on Saturdays, January 27 and February 24, 2024, as well as on November 23-December 7, 2024. After donning a helmet, a belt and an electric lamp at the lamp house, as all miners did in those days, visitors cross the former Wendel tile pit and enter the darkened mine. The night light shines on equipment that is usually invisible. The tour ends with a relaxing meal in the hanging room. The visit costs ?25, and must be booked in advance, as the number of places is limited. La traversée à la cap lamp is an immersive nocturnal experience offered at Parc Explor Wendel on Saturdays January 27-February 24-November 23-December 7, 2024. The concept is simple: take part in the miner's night shift and share his meal. Visitors are greeted by a former miner, who guides the tour. The tour begins in the famous shower-bath corridor, passes through the hanging room and continues in the lamp room. Here, the visitor is equipped with a cap lamp, belt and helmet. After crossing the mine floor, usually inaccessible at night, the group descends to the bottom of the mine, plunged into darkness as it was in the mining days. Only the intersecting spectra of light reveal the shape of the galleries and the immensity of the modern machinery! After the tour, a meal consisting of an assortment of cold cuts, a portion of raw vegetables, cheese and a trio of desserts is served in the hanging room. This convivial moment allows visitors to continue their discovery of the mining world by chatting with the former miners, the evening?s guides.
