EXPOSITION D'ASHLEY ASHFORD BROWN

Date:

Opening Thursday, May 16, 6:30 pm. Born in England, Ashley Ashford Brown was raised near Stonehenge, in the heart of the region with the highest concentration of Neolithic monuments in Europe. It was a place that profoundly influenced his youth. Arriving in France in the 60s with empty pockets, he began experimenting with various alternatives to paint, a rather expensive product at the time. His discovery of Tàpies and other artists working with materials encouraged him in this direction. White cement soon became the foundation of his approach. Mixed with an acrylic binder, a little dust and opposing pigments, cement is both robust and supple, giving a matt, chalky quality to the artist?s canvases. The artist sometimes turns alchemist, adding tea to the mix, "artist and work sharing the same drink! For the first time, Ashley Ashford Brown will bring together two series from her work, Rooms and Landscapes. Guided tours at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 8 and July 6. Exhibition opening hours: Monday 10am - 5pm/Tuesday 1pm - 6pm/Wednesday, Thursday 10am - 6pm/Friday 1pm - 5pm/Saturday 10am - 12:30pm and 2pm to 5pm.
