CIRCUIT N°46 : AUTOUR DE COURTANVAUX - BESSÉ-SUR-BRAYE

Bessé dates back to the Middle Ages. At the time, the parish was home to a number of fiefs, including Courtanvaux, a parish seigneury that became a marquisate in 1609. From the 18th century onwards, the town developed thanks to the establishment of pre-industrial sites, as evidenced by the cotton mill set up by Elie Savatier in 1735 (on the site of a former stamen factory) and the paper mill created on the La Roche site in 1824. The latter has since become the commune?s main industrial site. Map and full description of the route available in the Guide Rando du Perche Sarthois (46 circuits). On sale at Perche Sarthois tourist offices for 6?
