Le Prieuré de Notz l'Abbé

The priory of Notz-l'Abbé was founded in 1228 by a donation to the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Savin. The visit will be led by the current owner, Jean-François Soubrier, who is passionate about the history of his estate. After passing under the 17th century porch dovecote, we will discover, spread around the courtyard, the prior's dwelling and the farm buildings, beautiful examples of local peasant architecture. Then, we will visit the Saint-Antoine chapel, witness of the history of the priory since its origins since it was probably built shortly after 1228. The chapel is a listed historical monument, particularly for its recently restored murals (15th and 16th centuries).
