Date:

Come and meet the father of the hotel to discover the monastic life and the different lives of the monument.

The Benedictine abbey of Fontgombault, founded in 1091, was severely damaged by the Wars of Religion. It was dissolved in 1786 and underwent a radical restoration, with the reconstruction of the nave in the second half of the 19th century. It was bought in 1905 by the philanthropist Louis Bonjean, and housed a cooperative button factory. The abbey has been home to a community of Benedictines since 1948. To get a feel for the atmosphere of the place, the visit will begin with the office of none (1/4 hour), followed by a video presentation of the history of the abbey and a meeting with the father who runs the hotel. Finally, after the discovery of the working-class city where the workers of the button factory lived, you will be able to finish the discussion around a tasting of the products o
