Un "Genre" de Festival : exposition des oeuvres de Lazare Lazarus

Date:

As part of a Festival "Genre", come and meet Lazare Lazarus, cartoonist, illustrator, filmmaker, amateur botanist and archivist at Mémoire des Sexualités? LGBTQIA+ documentary fund based in Marseille. Hooded faces, bodies embraced in agaves, demons leaping over the peaks of the calanques or Orthodox churches melted into the garrigue, Lazare Lazarus' imagination feeds on Marseille, the city he loves to roam. In his drawings, as in his films, there seems to be a relentless quest for tenderness and the pleasures of the flesh, whose stories and memories he recounts, sometimes real, sometimes fabricated... Opening: Saturday April 13, 6pm.

"The figures in my drawings are generally faceless, in flowering groves or buried, melting into bushes. Their sexes are never or very rarely shown; they become plants and hybridize. The bodies I draw come from porn magazines from the 1980s and 1990s, such as Projet X, a magazine about hard sexuality. It's a way of reviving these archives and linking myself to the genealogy of gay porn, and more specifically to that of BDSM. What turns me on is bringing together bodies, pieces of cities, the garrigue and the shores of Marseille, and making everything vibrate on the same line." Excerpt from the interview "Bander le paysage" by Pierre Arese on the Quebecois Espace website - Participation in the "Parlons de sexualités" round table on April 13 at 7pm at the Gindou village hall - Performance-reading on April 14 at 2pm (starting in front of the bookshop Le vent d?autan in Cazals) - Drawing landscapes" workshop on Tuesday April 16.
