Exposition La mémoire des choses

Galerie Le Corridor is delighted to present "La mémoire des choses", an exhibition featuring works by Dominique Lonchampt, Michel Rey and Sylvère. A shared experimental and sensitive approach to materials, favoring pigment colors such as ash, black and ochre, unites these three artists around a questioning of time. More specifically, the survival in memory of an intimate relationship with "things", and their disappearance, whether regretted or desired. In her drawings and sculptures, Dominique Lonchampt is interested in everyday objects, forgotten, rusted and passionately accumulated. In her drawings, she uses a variety of tools and media to work on the oxidized dust imprints of rusted objects, a way of preserving their trace that is both corporeal and evanescent. Moulded in starched tracing paper, arranged and assembled, the objects also become sculptures, exuvia*, allegorical and poetic metamorphoses of things left behind, ghostly presences of gestures and memories of use. In Michel Rey?s photographic series Hantise, deformed and ash-painted plastic bottles, alone, grouped or piled up, resemble trembling, unspeakable, anachronistic forms. Carnal apparitions of our consumerism, these spectral images stare at us, calling out to us. Neither present nor absent, they have a right to look at us, without reciprocity. How can we rid ourselves of these archival traces, exorcise them, chase them away a second time, or even mourn them forever? For Sylvère, the memory of things is in prehistory. This is ironically underlined by the fact that many of his works are entitled 5? avant Lascaux. Whether on canvas or paper, Sylvère takes us back to an earlier time. His often muted, monochromatic paintings in gray, lead and anthracite, is enhanced by outcrops of chalk and pencil, imprints, traces and simple, repetitive geometric signs.
