Gontierama 2024: works of art in the city Since 2018, the Pays de Château-Gontier has been organizing, alongside Le Carré, Scène nationale ? Center d?art contemporain d?intérêt national, a major cultural event combining contemporary art and heritage: GONTIERAMA. This biennial event, which has attracted a large number of participants over the years, is now an eagerly-awaited event that extends far beyond the borders of the département. From May 25 to August 25, artists Pierre Ardouvin, Anne Brégeaut, Sammy Engramer, Victoria Klotz, Musée des nuages, Elsa Tomkowiak, Clémence Van Lunen and Stéphane Vigny invite you to (re)discover the city in a new way. Enjoy Gontierama at your own pace, with family or friends. All exhibitions are free of charge. Guided tours, game booklets, workshops, meetings and work activations are also available all summer long. In the meantime, discover the works freely with this treasure hunt. Note: not all exhibition venues are open 7/7. So, to make the most of the exhibition and access all the works, we advise you to visit from Wednesday to Saturday, 3-6pm. Let us surprise you! Drawing on the artistic expertise of the art center, accredited by the French Ministry of Culture, and its programmer Bertrand Godot, this contemporary art trail is written around the topography of Château-Gontier. Following the banks of the Mayenne, which runs through the town, or tracing a perpendicular that links the faubourg and the upper town, the idea is to engage a different relationship with space. Each artist takes up a specific site in the town of Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne: exhibition hall, courtyard, garden, square, miniature golf course? The open-air works are immediately accessible to all, and resonate with the exhibitions on offer in cultural structures and heritage buildings: 4bis, the Tourist Office, the Chapelle Saint-Julien (Centre Hospitalier du Haut-Anjou), the Musée d?Art et d?Histoire and the Médiathèque. Strengthening ties through art Since its launch, Gontierama has also been an opportunity to forge numerous partnerships with local schools and businesses, which regularly participate in the creation and implementation of certain artistic projects (Lycée professionnel Pierre et Marie Curie, Métallik Vallée, Ets Maisonneuve, ATS?).
