Châtelais : the oldest village of the Anjou bleu and its 7000 years of history, its museums and circuits.

This local museum takes you back in time, from the Neolithic period to the Middle Ages. Thanks to local archaeological discoveries, you'll enjoy observing objects found in the area such as carved stones, flints, bronze axes and daggers, Gallo-Roman coins, Merovingian sarcophagi... The museum team invites you to take a tour of the Combaristum (the Latin name for the town). The tour takes you from the Gallic oppidum (1st century BC) to the Roman road, then from the Merovingian necropolis to the 12th-century ramparts. You'll discover the entire town and the remains of the castle. A history dating back almost 7,000 years and the oldest inhabited site in Anjou Bleu!
