Plunge into the heart of the forest of Ombrée in Anjou bleu, between wide alleys and more intimate paths. The Masked Miner's Trail leads you on a 3.5 kilometre long interpretation trail, to discover the built and natural heritage of the forest within a labelled Sensitive Natural Area.
Access to the interpretive trail is behind the school. Marked in blue, it follows a larger 13-kilometre circuit called "le chemin bleu". You enter the Ombrée forest, a former clay and slate extraction site, by a slightly uneven path. Soon the path becomes flat, lined with oaks and beeches. Be careful when crossing the road as cars are hardly visible when exiting a bend. At the bend in the path, an old iron mine shaft has become over time the playground for bats. Further on, you pass by Robinia and pine plantations. Halfway along the route, the landscape opens up to former slate mining sites. This very mineral place, with sparse vegetation (birch, broom...) is the gateway to the Misengrain valley. A large wetland and a lake invite you to stroll. After having crossed the footbridge to admire the landscape, go back on your steps and take more on the left, you return in the forest. You will then observe traces of discreet animals: weasel, fox, badger... You will also enjoy the singing of birds, especially in the morning (blue tit, black-headed warbler, wren, oak jay...). The end of the route reuses the path you took at the start.
