CHÂTEAU DE LA ROCHE-NOYANT

On the Rennes/Angers axis, the Château de la Roche-Noyant is a fine example of late 18th century architecture. The building is located in Noyant-la-Gravoyère, a small commune in the Anjou Bleu region.

Built between 1785 and 1788 by Louis de Dieusie, a wealthy landowner, the Château de la Roche-Noyant is a beautiful example of the architecture of the Enlightenment. Guillotined in 1794, its builder unfortunately did not take much advantage of it. The castle was sold in 1804 to the Baron de Candé whose family, who lived there until the end of the 1970s, made many tasteful improvements over the years (outbuildings and park designed by Jacques Chevallier in 1878). After having been occupied for 20 years by a school, its current owners for the past 20 years have been committed to the maintenance and renovation of this beautiful property. Visit only the outside: the park, the terrace and the outbuildings.
