In the 11th century, the choice of this site answered an imperative: to defend and control an obligatory crossing point on the Mayenne between Anjou, Maine and Brittany. The city was built on the heights of the right bank around a castle raised by the Count of Anjou Foulques III Nerra From the origins of the city to the present day, it is a journey of more than 1000 years that awaits us!
