LOIRE ET PATRIMOINE - LA MÉNITRÉ

France > Pays de la Loire > Maine-et-Loire > 49250 > La Ménitré

This 12 km loop invites you to walk along the banks of the Loire and stroll through a typical Loire village.

Your walk begins at Port Saint Maur, an exceptional site on the banks of the Loire, with a remarkable view of the Ile de Baure, the abbey of St Maur and the village of Saint Mathurin sur Loire. After the mill of the Virgin whose epic is told to you on a lectern, you will cross the main square of the town, bordered by the richly ornamented Town Hall and by the church built at the beginning of the 19th century in the neo-Greek style. You will then pass by the Manoir Jeanne de Laval (15th century) and the Moulin Goislard. Their stories are told to you on desks at the foot of each of its monuments. You will then cross the Vendellières district where the architecture of the houses is typical of the Valley (longères, dormer windows ...). After having crossed the countryside, you will take the banks of the Loire to reach the retting port made in staircase, where the rings of attachment for the bales of hemp remain.
