Situated between the Château de Chenonceau and the ZooParc de Beauval, St-Georges-sur-Cher is a land of vineyards and history. This itinerary highlights the historical monuments, some of which are listed, that line the route, and of which the remarkable "Prieuré de la Chaise" is the centrepiece.

St-Georges-sur-Cher is a village in the Cher valley whose hillside, covered with vines, stretches from its southern tip over 7 km to join the Cher river which borders it to the north. You cross this wine-growing heritage by following the paths from which you can still see the typical "vine lodges". At "la Chaise" discover the old Benedictine priory of the 12th century which was at the centre of a monastic activity dedicated to wine-growing. This elegant residence has a manor house and a remarkable chapel. Nearby, the "Bois de Grateloup" shelters the moats of the Gaillard castle, razed to the ground during the Hundred Years' War for felony by Charles VI. On the way back to the village, the Château des Couldraies appears, which was used as a hunting lodge and as a gallantry relay by king
